Turkish border guards kill asylum seeker in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A young man was killed on Saturdaywhile two others survived, after Turkish border guards threw them into the Orontes River. west of Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria, during their attempt to cross into Turkey.
An official in the police affiliated with the Syrian opposition in the town of Darkush, northwest Idlib, said that the Turkish border guards apprehended the young man, Mahmoud Aloush, 22, along with two others while trying to cross the Turkish-Syrian border, and threw them in the river after brutally beating them.
The residents found the body of Aloush and the two survived people who were taken to Darkush Hospital, according to the source.
One of the survivors, Mustafa al-Rouji, 26, stated that while they were attempting to cross into Turkey, they were beaten and thrown into the Orontes River by the border guards. They were unable to save Aloush.
