Syrian defense shoots down 2 drones in Damascus – state media

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Ministry of Defense said on Friday they shot down two drones in the west of Damascus, the capital.

Syria’s state-run SANA news agency cited a military source as saying that  the drones entered the Syrian airspace from the side of Golan Heights, southwestern Syria.

“At around 14:10 p.m., two drones violated the Syrian airspace from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan,” the source said.

The source added that the Syrian air defenses confronted the two drones and shot down them west of Damascus, according to SANA.

Israel continues launching airstrikes on points in Syria. The strikes have been intensified since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7, 2023. Israel claims that the strikes target weapons warehouses linked to Iranian-backed militias.
