ISIS kills, injures Iranian-backed militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two militants of Iranian-backed militias were killed and two others were injured in a violent attack carried out on Friday by the Islamic State (ISIS) on military headquarters in southern Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A source from the Syrian government forces told North Press that ISIS militants attacked the headquarters of the Iran-backed Iraqi Harakat al-Nujaba militia with machine guns in the vicinity of Sholah city, south of Deir ez-Zor.
According to the source, the attack resulted in the killing of two militants of the Harakat al-Nujaba and the injury of two others.
Ali al-Obaidi and Marwan Ahmad al-Hadi, both of Iraqi nationality, were killed in the attack, as well as two others were wounded, the source noted.
Despite frequent security operations, ISIS remains heavily present in the Syrian Desert and occasionally claims responsibility for attacks against the government forces.
On Jan.23, ISIS militants attacked several sites of the Iranian-backed militias and government forces in the desert of Palmyra, east of Homs, killing three militants of the Iranian-backed militias and injuring nine soldiers of the government forces.
