Turkish attacks violate international laws – AANES
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in the city of Kobani, northern Syria, condemned the recent Turkish attacks, labeling them as crimes against humanity that violate international law.
Since Jan. 12, Turkey has been bombarding various regions in northern and northeastern Syria, resulting in the disruption of many vital service facilities. The attacks have focused on electricity and oil plants.
The AANES in Kobani has condemned Turkey’s recent attacks, stating that they aim to undermine the livelihood of the people and dismantle essential AANES institutions responsible for regional security.
The statement further added that Turkey’s actions facilitate the resurgence of the Islamic State (ISIS).
The statement also revealed that Turkey targeted two power facilities in the town of Ain Issa, in northern Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria. These power stations provided electricity for over 200,000 people. Furthermore, a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) was targeted. The attacks have also hit the office of the AANES’ Directorate of Transportation, a cement factory affiliated with Lafarge, a French industrial company, and an animal farm in the village of Sheikh Jouban in the countryside of Kobani.
The AANES called on the international community and international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities by stopping the Turkish attacks and initiating an investigation into these crimes committed against the people of northern and northeastern Syria.
