AANES urges deterrent actions against Turkish airstrikes on NE Syria

northeastern Syria and called on Syrian actors and the international community to take deterrent measures to prevent “Turkish crimes.”

The AANES said in a statement that Turkish airstrikes knocked service facilities out of operation, hence preventing them from providing services to the entire region concerning energy, water, and agriculture.

Turkey resumed targeting service facilities and vital infrastructure in northeastern Syria two days ago. These facilities already sustained extensive damage by Turkish airstrikes in late December 2023.

Turkish airstrikes violate all international laws and conventions and undermine efforts to combat terrorism and achieve stability, the AANES said, adding that Turkey takes advantage of regional and international conflicts and international inaction.

The AANES called on all actors in Syria, the international community, and human rights organizations to fulfill their duties and take deterrent actions to prevent Turkish aggressions, and to hold Turkey accountable.
