AANES urges Syrian actors to stop Turkish airstrikes on NE Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) urged on Saturday Syrian actors to stop “unjustified” Turkish airstrikes on Northeast Syria that destabilize the region and undermine efforts to fight the Islamic State (ISIS).
The AANES said in its statement that Turkey’s attacks against vital infrastructure and oil facilities threaten the stability in the region and the fight against terrorism.
Early on Saturday, Turkey launched airstrikes on oil facilities in the countryside of Qamishli and Derik in northeastern Syria.
The AANES warned of the negative repercussions of such airstrikes on the region, which help revive terrorist groups and incite ethnic conflicts and sectarianism.
The statement also urged all Syrian actors and human rights organizations to take action against these escalations.
