SDF thwarts government forces’ infiltration in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) thwarted on Monday night infiltration attempts by the Syrian government forces in conjunction with attacks against their posts in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria.

A military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor said the forces thwarted several attempts of infiltration by militias affiliated with the government forces that came from the western bank of the Euphrates River, an area held by the Syrian government.

The source told North Press that fierce clashes erupted between the SDF and the government-backed militias.

In the same context, unknown gunmen attacked a patrol of the SDF in the town of Diban, east of Deir ez-Zor, causing damage to the vehicle and the injury of one fighter, the source added.

He indicated that other gunmen attacked SDF posts in the towns of Hawaij, Shuhail and al-Jarzi, causing material damage.
