Israel conducts airstrike on Damascus – Syrian military says
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israel conducted on Tuesday an airstrike on positions in Rif Dimashq Governorate in southern Syria, leaving material damage, Syria’s state-run news agency SANA cited a military source of the Syrian government forces as saying.
The source said the airstrike came from the direction of the Golan Heights and targeted positions in Rif Dimashq causing material damage.
Israel has yet to comment on the incident, but Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that “five rockets were fired from Syria at northern Israel” on Monday evening, according The Times of Israel, a news website.
“Sirens sounded in the southern Golan Heights communities of Avnei Eitan and Nov, but the IDF says all the projectiles landed in open areas, causing no injuries or damage,” the website said.
Israel goes on launching missiles on sites in Syria. The strikes have been intensified since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7. Israel claims that the strikes target weapons warehouses linked to Iranian-backed militias.
