SDC 4th conference calls for addressing Syrians aspirations

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Politicians present at the fourth annual conference of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), held in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, urged unifying the Syrian opposition, both inside and outside Syria, and rallying international support to achieve the aspirations of Syrians.

Hussam Aloush, an official at the Syrian opposition’s National Coordination Committee (NCC), hailed the SDC for its pursuit of democratic change, and advocated for the formation of a coalition between the SDC and the Syrian opposition.

In June, the SDC and NCC reached a memorandum of understanding, which includes five articles that aim to pave the way for joint work between both sides.

Hefl Aboud Jadan al-Hefl, an elder of al-Uqaydat tribe, highlighted the existence of a “false impression” abroad of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). Al-Helf, who has been living in the U.S. for the last 40 years, called for changing this perception.

Bassam Ishak, the representative of the SDC in Washington, emphasized Washington’s crucial role in determining Syria’s future.

He stressed that the SDC has stepped up its work, particularly in Washington’s political circles.
