IDLIB, Syria (North Pres) – A Syrian young man was killed and dozens were brutally beaten on Friday by the Turkish border guards after being detained while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border in northwestern Idlib.
Residents in the town of Salqin told North Press that the border guards physically assaulted a group of Syrians consisting of 30 people, including three women, as they attempted to cross the Syrian-Turkish border near the village of Telol in the northern countryside of Salqin.
They added that one of the group members, Salim Shaharani, 22, from Raqqa Governorate, north Syria, was killed after being struck on the head with iron bars by the border guards. Five members of the group were transferred to hospitals in Salqin.
On Dec. 12, young man was killed and another was injured by the border guards while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border from Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa.
