Man killed, another injured in 2 separate attacks in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – One individual was killed and another was wounded on Wednesday in two separate attacks in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source said unidentified gunmen shot Barakat al-Jarallah, 48, near a market in the town of al-Ozba in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
The source added that al-Jarallah, who is a civilian with no military or political affiliation, died immediately after the attack.
Meanwhile, unknown gunmen shot Khudair al-Wazir in the village of al-Hejjnah in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
Al-Wazir sustained gunshot wounds in his shoulder. He managed to flee towards one of the nearby military posts where he was taken to hospital, according to another source.
Iranian-backed militias and the Syrian government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which witness intensive operations and attacks by Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells.
