Asayish capture ISIS leader in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Supported by the U.S.-led Global Coalition, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) arrested on Sunday an ISIS weapons and ammunition officer in eastern Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
In a statement published on its official website, the Asayish stated that, backed by the Coalition, “Our Special Forces [HAT] managed to arrest an ISIS militant in eastern Deir ez-Zor.”
Based on initial investigations, the Asayish added, the ISIS leader was involved in securing ammunition, weapons, and supplies for the extremist organization. Significant evidence and relevant documents supporting his culpability were seized during the operation.
On Sunday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced in the arrest of an ISIS militant in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, during an operation. The arrested individual was involved in carrying out attacks and bombings against the SDF, civilians, and institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Hasakah.
The detainee will be referred to the judiciary after the completion of the initial investigations to be tried in line with the AANES laws, the Asayish statement read.
