Israeli airstrikes put Damascus, Mezzeh airports out of service
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, an Israeli airstrike targeted the Mezzeh military airport and Damascus International Airport, both located east of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
An exclusive source stated to North Press that an Iranian transport plane was en route to the Mezzeh airport when the latter was targeted. The attack immediately knocked the airport out of commission.
Four minutes after the airport was hit, the source said, a similar strike targeted the Damascus International Airport, rendering it inoperative.
On Sunday, a source from the Qamishli International Airport in northeastern Syria informed North Press that the first flight to the Damascus airport would take place on Tuesday, Nov. 28, after over a one-month suspension.
Following the targeting of both the military and civilian airports in Damascus, the initial source added, the Iranian plane diverted its route and landed at the Tadmur military airport in central Syria, which is currently under Russian control. The source further said that the Iranian plane transported Iranian military personnel engaged in operations within Syria.
