Unidentified gunmen kill militant of IRGC in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen killed, on Friday, a militant of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source from the IRGC in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that unknown gunmen on a motorcycle targeted Ahmad al-Zayed, local militant of the IRGC, in the town of al-Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The source added that al-Zayed hails from the village of Tayyba in al-Mayadin.

Vast swathes of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor are run by Iranian-backed militias and the Syrian government forces.
