Israeli official stresses responding to attacks from Syria, Hezbollah
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli War Cabinet Minister, Benny Gantz, stated on Tuesday that his country will continue to respond to any attack from Syria or Lebanon.
Regarding the repeated shelling by Hezbollah in northern Israel, “We are ready and prepared for any expansion of the fighting that will be required to allow the residents of the north to return home safely,” Gantz told Israeli media during a tour in the occupied Golan Heights.
He added, “Lebanon and Syria bear the responsibility for firing from their territory – and we will continue to strike anywhere and in any area from which they try to attack us.”
Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7, Israel has repeatedly targeted military sites of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah in both Syria and Lebanon, respectively.
The Israeli general blamed Hezbollah for the displacement of Lebanese residents in southern Lebanon. “So far, tens of thousands of Lebanese residents have fled their homes to the north of the country. I suggest to [Hezbollah’s leader] Nasrallah not to turn southern Lebanon into northern Gaza, and not to risk Beirut for Tehran. If the fire continues, the fighting will intensify.”
