SDF outposts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor fall under attacks
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown armed men attacked on Friday midnight several military posts of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, recording casualties and material losses.
An SDF military source in the town of al-Suwar, northern Deir ez-Zor Governorate, told North Press that the unknown armed men targeted with machineguns a military vehicle of the SDF on the main road leading to the village of al-Buneital in the northern countryside.
The source added that the attack resulted in the wounding of two SDF fighters, noting the assailants managed to flee.
Sleeper cells affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) and other parties, which the SDF claims are connected to the Syrian government, as well as Iran-backed militias deployed west of the Euphrates River, continue to repeatedly target SDF patrols and posts in Deir ez-Zor.
Another SDF military post in the village of Rebayda in al-Suwar endured a similar attack, but no casualties have been reported, according to the same source.
Another military source in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor told North Press that sporadic clashes erupted between unknown attackers and SDF fighters in the village of al-Tayyana in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside.
The source added that unknown assailants riding a motorcycle targeted an SDF military vehicle in the village of al-Hejjnah in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside, wounding one fighter.
