Iranian cargo plane arrives Syria’s Palmyra military airport

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – An Iranian cargo plane arrived on Monday evening at Palmyra military airport in central Syria, carrying Iranian officials who are part of the Iranian leadership operating in Syria, according to an officer of the Syrian government forces.

The source mentioned that the unloading of the cargo and its transfer towards eastern and northern Syria coincided with an attack by Islamic State (ISIS) cells on several points and headquarters of the government and affiliated forces in Homs desert, central Syria, which delayed the arrival of the supplies to warehouses in northern Syria.

On Nov.9, the Air Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has started reusing the Palmyra military airport which it had handed over to Russia’s Wagner group in early March 2021.

Previous reports indicated that the supply routes for Iranian forces into Syrian territory were affected by Israeli airstrikes on Damascus and Aleppo airports last month.

The source emphasized that unloading the cargo from the plane and its transfer took place late at night, and its arrival at the warehouses along the Hama-Raqqa road and the village of Zahabiya in the southern part of Aleppo city occurred late as well.
