Turkey transfers detainees from Syria’s Sere Kaniye to Turkish territory

HASAKAH, Syria (North press) – On Saturday, Turkish authorities transferred four Kurdish detainees from a prison in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), in northern Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, to one of their prisons in the Turkish city of Urfa, in coordination with the Turkish-backed Military Police in the Syrian National Army (SNA).

An official in the Military Police supervising the anti-terrorism prison from which the detainees were taken said that the four detainees were arrested on Sep. 18, during an arrest campaign carried out by the Military Police and the Security Service of the SNA in the town of Mabrouka, west of the city of Sere Kaniye.

He added that the detainees were Kurdish, and were subjected to investigation by the Military Police, and a security charge was recorded in their file, while they were trying to cross into Turkey and seek refuge in a European country.

The detainees transferred by the Turkish authorities are 16-year-old Yasmine Haj Musa, 23-year-old Aslan Abdo, 20-year-old Rami Khaldoun, and 25-year-old Azdasher Yazan.

According to the source, the detainees were initially transferred by the Military Police to the counter-terrorism center in the city. On Saturday, Turkish intelligence took custody of the detainees and transported them through the Ras al-Ain border crossing to a prison in the Turkish city of Urfa.
