Russian air raids target Syria’s Hama

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian warplanes conducted on Thursday several airstrikes on the northern countryside of Hama Governorate, central west Syria.

Syrian opposition media sources said that the Russian fighter jets conducted missile airstrikes on the outskirts of the village of Duwayr al-Akrad and the town of al-Enkawi in the Ghab Plain, west of Hama.

Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria affiliated with Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced late on Wednesday launching airstrikes on sites of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA) in the countryside of Idlib, northwestern Syria.

The government forces stationed at surrounding checkpoints shelled the village of Fleifel in the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria, and the village of al-Hamidiyah in the Ghab Plain, the sources added.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment between Syrian government forces and opposition factions accompanied by Russian warplanes’ flight despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

In March 2020, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement in Moscow that stipulated a ceasefire, the establishment of a safe corridor, and the conduct of joint patrols on the M4/Aleppo-Latakia Highway.
