DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli army targeted late on Saturday a military checkpoint of the Syrian government forces in Quneitra countryside, southern Syria.
A military source of the government forces told North Press that the Israeli strike came after the government forces launched a missile from one of its military posts towards Israeli settlements in the Israeli-occupied Golan.
The source said that the Lebanese Hezbollah is likely the one who targeted the Israeli settlements.
No casualties were reported.
“This is not the first time that the Lebanese Hezbollah uses military bases of the Syrian government to target Israeli settlements,” according to the source.
Israel frequently targets suspected positions of Iranian-backed militias in Syria in what appears to be an effort to curb their movement amid fears the Israel-Hamas conflict would escalate into a wider regional turmoil.
Israeli airstrikes targeted on Oct. 27 several points in the countryside of Daraa and Quneitra, southwest Syria.
