NDF sets up new posts on Euphrates in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The National Defense Forces (NDF), affiliated with the Syrian government forces, set up on Sunday several posts on the western bank of the Euphrates River in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source within the NDF in Deir ez-Zor said that, under orders from his commander Firas al-Jaham and after coordinating with leaders of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), they set up posts on the bank of the Euphrates River in the towns of al-Mayadin, al-Quriyah, al-Asharah, and al-Dwair in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

This came in tandem with the retreat of the Iranian-backed militias from their posts in Deir ez-Zor, following the infiltration of gunmen into areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) east of the Euphrates to carry out attacks against them.

Following the clashes that occurred between the SDF and gunmen affiliated with the NDF in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, pro-government activists published footages of the trainings of militants in snipers’ uniform whom they said would fight the SDF.

The source told North Press that all the posts are reinforced with militants trained in IRGC camps.

The source added that this stationing came after several meetings with the IRGC.
