Asayish arrests 6 ISIS militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR, EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), dismantled a cell of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The Asayish arrested six ISIS militants who were involved in terrorist operations in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

“After investigative operations and intelligence gathering conducted by our security forces regarding ISIS cells involved in assassination operations and the detonation of explosive devices, as well as individuals working within media agencies affiliated with the terrorist group, our security forces were able to identify the locations of six individuals belonging to the cell,” according to a statement by the Asayish.

The Asayish forces seized weapons and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles and grenades.

On Oct. 19, the Asayish also arrested six ISIS militants in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
