Military escalation continues  in NW Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian warplanes resumed late on Friday launching airstrikes on the countryside of Latakia, western Syria. Meanwhile, the Syrian government forces shelled with artillery and rockets the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, northwestern Syria.

A military source within the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation told North Press that Russian military aircraft targeted with highly explosive missiles the Kabina area in Jabal al-Akrad in northern Latakia without reporting casualties.

The source added that the airstrikes coincided with artillery and rocket shelling by the government forces on the villages and towns of al-Abzimo, Kafr Amma, Tadil, al-Wasata, al-Qasr, and Kafr Taal in western Aleppo, as well as Fatterah and Sfuhen in Zawiya Mountain in the south of Idlib.

The shelling caused significant material damage to public and private properties, with approximately 15 houses being damaged in Kafr Taal and al-Abzimo. No human casualties were reported, the source added.

Meanwhile, a military source in al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room told North Press that approximately 25 military vehicles carrying dozens of personnel from the government forces arrived at Regiment 46 in the west of Aleppo and the city of Saraqib in eastern Idlib.

Since early October, areas in northwestern Syria have witnessed military escalation and mutual shelling between the Russian and government forces on one side, and Turkish-backed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and Turkish forces on the other side, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
