Turkish-backed SNA arrests 15 people in Syria’s Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), arrested on Wednesday 15 individuals in the village of al-Duwayra, in the countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeast Syria, on charges of having ties with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The SNA factions continue to carry out ongoing arrests of civilians in areas under their control, under the pretext of “counter-terrorism” and alleged affiliation with hostile entities. Most of the detainees are being held in undisclosed prisons, and sometimes they are transferred to Turkish prisons.

A military source from an SNA faction told North Press that “the Military Police and the Sultan Murad Division, affiliated with the SNA, conducted a raid and arrests campaign in the village of al-Duwayra. They arrested 15 people on charges of having ties with the PKK.”

The source added that the detainees were transported in military vehicles to the “counter-terrorism” prison in the city of Sere Kaniye.

Sere Kaniye has been under the occupation of the Turkish forces and has been controlled by the SNA, since 2019 following the so-called “Peace Spring” military operation that aimed to push away the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting the Turkish national security.
