Iran’s FM meets Assad to discuss Israel-Hamas war
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met on Friday Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian in Damascus to discuss war developments between Hamas and Israel.
On Oct. 12, the airports of Damascus and Aleppo were targeted by Israeli airstrikes before Abdullahian’s planned visit to Damascus. Media outlets reported that the Iranian minister’s plane was on its way to the Syrian capital during the bombing and was subsequently forced to return to Iraqi airspace.
Syrian state-run SANA news agency reported that ”President al-Assad and Abdullahian also discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Israeli escalation in Gaza and the West Bank, and stressed their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
Earlier today, Abdullahian met the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, and discussed similar issues.
Hamas militants launched a series of sudden attacks against Israel on Oct. 7, killing hundreds and capturing more than 100 hostages along the border of the Gaza Strip. Israel declared war in response and conducted intense retaliatory airstrikes.
