Mazloum Abdi condemns Turkey’s deadly attack on Asayish in NE Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi condemned on Monday Turkey’s deadly attack on Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria (Asayish) headquarters in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah), far northeast Syria.

“It is a brutal crime and blatant violation of human rights that cannot be disregarded,” Abdi said in a statement on X.

On Sunday at night, a Turkish airstrike targeted an Asayish center in Derik, resulting in the killing of 29 members of the Anti-Drug Forces, affiliated with the Asayish, and the injury of 28 others.

He said that the SDF will not hesitate in confronting Turkish assaults and attacks, saying, ”It’s our legitimate right”

The commander expressed sympathy to the families of the “martyrs”.

Since the early hours of Oct. 5 and until Monday, 172 sites in areas and cities in north and northeast Syria have been stuck by Turkish airstrikes, shells, and drone attacks, targeting residential areas, military posts and infrastructure, including oil fields, gas plants, power stations, and others, according to the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press.
