For 2nd time, Turkish drone strikes power station in Qamishli city
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) — For the second time in two days, a Turkish drone targeted on Friday a power station in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria.
Another drone strike targeted the same station on Thursday, resulting in the complete shutdown of the facility.
According to eyewitnesses cited by North Press, a Turkish drone struck the power station located on the Northern Belt road in Qamishli city, causing significant damage to the facility.
Since Thursday morning, Turkish drones have been carrying out intense attacks targeting infrastructure in northeastern Syria, including gas, oil, electricity, and water stations.
The Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented that the Turkish drones hit 52 sites including 19 infrastructure facilities, 22 residential buildings, and 11 military positions (5 of which are of the Syrian government forces).
The strikes have killed 11 people so far, including four civilians, and injured seven others, including five civilians and two Syrian government soldiers, according to the department.
North Press correspondent noted that the strikes did not result in any human casualties and were limited to further material damage.
Firefighters promptly responded to extinguish the fire caused by the attacks, aiming to minimize the size of material damage.
