SDF announces killing 5 Turkish soldiers in north Hasakah
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday the killing of five Turkish soldiers in two military operations in north of the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah city, in retaliation for the Turkish attacks on northeast Syria.
On Thursday, the Turkish army launched drone strikes on infrastructure in several areas of north and northeast Syria, in the regions run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). The strikes took place following a statement by Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, in which he threatened to strike a broader range of targets in Syria and Iraq in retaliation for the Ankara attack on October 1.
The Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented that the Turkish drones hit 52 sites including 19 infrastructure facilities, 22 residential buildings, and 11 military positions (5 of which are of the Syrian government forces).
The strikes have killed 11 people so far, including four civilians, and injured seven others, including five civilians and two Syrian government soldiers, according to the department.
In a statement, the SDF said that they carried out two military operations against Turkish bases, killing five Turkish soldiers and injuring many more, in response to their attacks on areas in northern and eastern Syria on Thursday evening.
The operations targeted the bases of Bab al-Faraj and Abdul Hai located in the northern areas of Tel Tamr, according to the statement.
