US, Russian patrols in tandem with Turkish drone strikes in NE Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces escalated on Thursday its shelling in northeastern Syria in tandem with patrols launched by the US and Russian patrols near the Syrian-Turkish border.

According to a preliminary toll recorded by the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press, the Turkish drones targeted seven locations in the Hasakah Governorate northeastern Syria, and the countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.

According to a military source who preferred to remain unnamed, Turkish drones are still hovering over the region in tandem with patrols conducted by the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkey.

The US forces launched a military patrol in the town of Rmelan in eastern Qamishli all the way to the city of Derik in the far northeast of Syria. This came in tandem with a Turkish drone strike on a vital dam in the countryside of Qamishli.

The Russian forces launched a military patrol near the town of Amuda in the western countryside of Qamishli. A Turkish drone strike targeted the village of Tel Habash in the countryside of Amuda, resulting in casualties according to initial reports.

On Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan vowed to avenge a suicide bombing attack in Ankara that took place on Oct. 1, by targeting infrastructure in Syria and Iraq. “From now on, all infrastructure, large facilities and energy facilities belonging to (armed Kurdish groups) in Iraq and Syria are legitimate targets for our security forces.”

Fidan claimed that the bombers were trained in northern Syria before carrying out the attack. “As a result of the work of our security forces, it has become clear that the two terrorists came from Syria and were trained there.”
