SDC urges international action to stop Turkish threats
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) called on the international community to address Turkish threats of attacking northeast Syria.
Earlier today, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan vowed to avenge a suicide bombing attack in Ankara that took place on Sunday by targeting facilities and infrastructure in Syria and Iraq.
Ilham Ahmad, President of the SDC Executive Committee, said on X platform (formerly twitter), “The Turkish government is routinely using drones to attack our cities, and now it is threatening to hit the infrastructure in our region, where there are 5 million people living, including IDPs. The international community must take action before it’s too late.”
She denied Turkey’s claims that the Ankara bombers had trained in northeast Syria, describing them as “pointless”.
Earlier, the Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi, said the bombers have not “passed through our region as Turkish officials claim, and we are not party to Turkey’s internal conflict nor we encourage escalation.”
The SDC official reiterated their demand to have “a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish-Turkish conflict in Turkey.”
She concluded, “We urge Turkey to refrain from exporting its problems to NE Syria.”
