Prominent ISIS leader arrested in Iraq’s Kirkuk

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – Iraqi Army announced on Monday the arrest of the commander of the so called “Foreign Battalion” within the Islamic State (ISIS) in Kirkuk province, in northern Iraq.

Iraqi News Agency reported, citing the Security Media Cell (SMC), that the wanted ISIS leader, known as Abu Bukhari, was arrested in Kirkuk in an intelligence operation conducted by Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Asayish Operations Directorate of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

The statement added that Abu Bukhariwas holding the position of the commander of the Foreign Battalion in ISIS.
