KRI Prime Minister reiterates Syria’s issues to be resolved peacefully

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq (KRI), Masrour Barzani, met on Saturday with a delegation of The Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) in Erbil to discuss the situation in Syria.

Barzani met with the delegation, which consisted of Abdulhakim Bashar and Ibrahim Bro to discuss recent developments in Syria.

The ENKS is a bloc of Kurdish political parties affiliated with the Turkish-backed opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC).

According to a statement, Barzani reiterated that the issues in Syria have to be resolved peacefully and that Kurdish civil rights should be taken into consideration during the process.

“The meeting focused on recent developments in Syria, with both sides discussing the importance of a peaceful solution, respect for human rights, and the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people,” the statement read.

Although two years have passed since the start of the intra-Kurdish dialogue, which takes place between the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK), operating in areas held by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), and the ENKS parties, with the aim of unifying their political position, many obstacles still remain before a final agreement can be reached.
