HTS arrests 19 people in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) launched a campaign of raids and arrests in Atma camp on the Turkish border in northern Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, searching for individuals accused of organizing attacks and assassinations against its militants.

A source from the administration of the Atma camp informed North Press that the General Security Service (GSS) raided 25 tents in the first and eastern sectors of the Atma camp in northern Idlib this afternoon. Nineteen individuals were arrested out of 30 wanted on charges of collaboration and forming cells to undermine the activities of the HTS.”

The source mentioned that the raid operation lasted for about two hours, and the families of the wanted individuals were informed of the necessity to surrender themselves under the threat of security harassment of their relatives in case of non-compliance. There is a state of fear regarding the repetition of raid operations and arrests.

The source also indicated that since June 18, the HTS has initiated a security campaign to pursue individuals and militants affiliated with it, accusing them of collaboration and incitement against the group, without knowing their fate after the arrests.
