DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Negotiation Committee (SNC), affiliated with the Syrian opposition, announced on Monday the establishment of an official delegation that will travel to New York to engage in a series of meetings addressing the political crisis in Syria.
A statement issued by the SNC said, “A delegation headed by Badr Jamous, the head of the Syrian Negotiation Committee, will travel days later to New York in the time of holding the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the Syrian crisis issues.”
The committee’s action plan stated that the visit involves a meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres and the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.
The meeting will address the prospect of pushing the Syrian issue forward and will request the UN Security Council to discuss resolution 2254 and the parties which impede its implementation, the statement read.
The statement added that Jamous will hold meetings with senior officials representing other states.
