HTS launches arrest campaign in northern Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a campaign of raids and arrests in the town of Haranbush, in northern Idlib, to arrest defected security members of HTS accused of espionage for foreign entities.

An exclusive source told North Press, “Two units of the General Security Services [GSS] closed the entrances of the roads to the town of Haranbush, searching for defectors charged with espionage for foreign entities.”

After the end of the raid campaign, GSS managed to arrest 22 wanted persons out of 30.

The source added that the arrestees were former GSS members who used to work in Haranbush, and that they were transferred to GSS’ Base 107 in Idlib for investigation.

HTS has launched its arrest campaign on June 18 against some leaders and militants within its own ranks on charges of espionage for foreign entities.
