Turkish forces shell villages in Syria’s Hasakah
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Friday evening two villages in Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.
A military source from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said the Turkish forces shelled the two villages of Umm al-Keif and al-Kozaliya in the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah.
The Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), continue to bomb villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr on a semi-daily basis.
On Sep. 14, the Turkish forces and their SNA factions shelled the wheat silos of the village of Umm al-Keif, a military source of the SDF said.
Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25,000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking Hasakah to Aleppo Governorate in the northwest.
The town has been under constant attacks by the Turkish forces and the SNA factions for more than two years.
