Baath Party guards injure 3 protestors in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, guards of Baath Party Branch opened fire on protesters who attempted to close the party’s headquarters in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria.
A protester told North Press, that “as a result of the shooting, three protesters were injured.”
Protests have been ongoing since Aug, 17, raising slogans that call the Syrian president to leave and for the implementation of Resolution 2254, reaffirming the commitment to peaceful protests until a political resolution is reached.
“Following today’s protest in al-Karama square, in Suwayda, the protesters headed to close the party’s headquarters after receiving information that it was reopened again by the Syrian government”, the source added.
The source added that “the guards of Baath Party headquarters opened fire at the protesters who stormed the yard of the building and attempted to destroy the statue of the former president Hafez al-Assad.”
The source stated that shooting had caused minor injuries to three protestors who were taken to the national hospital of Shahba.
