Unidentified individuals attack military post in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen targeted on Sunday a military headquarters of the Syrian government forces in Homs, central Syria, with missiles.
A military source of the government forces in Homs told North Press that unidentified gunmen targeted a military headquarters of the Air Force in the Shinshar area of Homs, using three missiles.
The source said the missiles caused significant material damage to the Signal Corps and fortifications of the headquarters. Meanwhile the attacking party remains unknown.
In response, the government forces have implemented measures such as closing off nearby towns and imposing a curfew to apprehend the attackers.
The Syrian Desert covers nearly half of the area of Syria, and is distributed over the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Rif Dimashq, Suwayda and Palmyra.
Iranian-backed militias and the government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which constitutes a source of concern as it witnesses intensive operations by the ISIS sleeper cells.
