Unknown people kill civilian in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a civilian was killed and a child was abducted in two separate incidents carried out by unknown individuals in the southern countryside of Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.
These incidents occurred amid the ongoing security chaos that has prevailed in Daraa and its countryside for years.
A local source told North Press that “the young man, Salah Ayash, was killed as a result of being targeted by armed unknown assailants in the town of Ibta in the countryside of Daraa.”
The source added that Ayash was a civilian earning his living by working at a shop for agricultural chemicals in the town. He was not involved in any military activities or associated with armed groups.
In another incident, another local source told North Press that “the child, Ali al-Asaad, 5, was kidnapped by unknown individuals in the city of Izraa in the eastern countryside of Daraa.”
The source mentioned that the child’s family appealed through social media platforms to the residents and dignitaries of Daraa to help them in the search for their son.
The source also indicated that the residents of the area believe that the motive behind the abduction is to obtain a ransom in exchange for the release of the child, as this phenomenon has occurred occasionally in Daraa areas.
