Government forces target SNA with artillery in Syria’s Hasakah
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Syrian government forces shelled with artillery the clusters of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in the western countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
A military source within the government forces told North Press, “The artillery of the Syrian government forces shelled the villages of Tawila and Tel Tawil after SNA factions infiltrated them earlier today.”
This is the first time the Syrian government forces use heavy artillery since its deployment on contact lines with areas held by the SNA in 2019 after the agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
A source within the Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF), said their “forces thwarted the attacks of the mercenaries on the villages of Tel Tamr and caused human casualties,” stressing their forces are “ready and alert to deter future attacks.”
Since early Sunday, villages in the western countryside of Tel Tamr have been witnessing an extensive ground attack by SNA factions.
The Tel Tamr Military Council is to release a statement later today, according to the source.
The source within the government forces noted that two soldiers were wounded and were transferred via the Russian Military Police vehicles to a field hospital.
