AANES urges people of Deir ez-Zor to beware of hostile parties

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An official from theAutonomous Administration of North and East Syria (ANNES) called on Thursday on the residents and Arab tribes of Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, to exercise caution against “hostile parties” who are attempting to ignite discord.

Badran Chiya Kurd, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the AANES, said that regarding the recent events in Deir ez-Zor, “tampering with civil peace and coexistence is tantamount to tampering with the blood that has been shed and providing direct support to the Islamic State (ISIS).”

On August 27, the SDF launched “Operation Security Reinforcement” against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor with the support of the US-led Global Coalition.

On August 30, the SDF announced the dismissal of the commander of Deir ez-Zor Military Council from duty after committing crimes and violations, and misusing authority.

Kurd added that there is currently an effort to secure stability for all the people in north and east Syria, especially in Deir ez-Zor countryside. The AANES is very keen on promoting coexistence and maintaining the stability of the region, which has been achieved through the efforts and sacrifices of the region’s inhabitants, encompassing all components and tribes, in the fight against ISIS.

He continued, “Tampering with civil peace and coexistence is tampering with the blood that has been shed, providing direct support to ISIS, supporting illicit trade, corruption, drugs, and a direct assault on the gains achieved thanks to this bloodshed against terrorism.”

Kurd emphasized that the common interest requires preserving the gains that have been achieved as a result of those efforts in the past years, and that the region should be managed by its own free will, shared by the population.

He clarified that there has been infiltration of hostile groups into the region for years, and there are persistent attempts to undermine the stability of the region. Today’s events are part of a plan “managed by regional forces against our people and the people of Deir ez-Zor.”

The official also pointed out that these infiltrating groups have incited the population against the SDF, which liberated the region from ISIS, not to serve the interests of those inhabitants but to advance their own agendas in the region, which do not benefit anyone, including the Arab tribes.

He concluded by stating that the SDF is now fulfilling its moral, security, and societal duty to ensure the dignity of the people in Deir ez-Zor. The decision of the SDF to hold accountable and change the leadership in the Deir ez-Zor area is an internal matter related to its own system and mechanisms, and it does not concern any specific component or tribe.
