SDF arrests 3 ISIS militants, 2 drug traffickers in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested on Monday three ISIS militants and two drug traffickers in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria.
This came in a military operation called “Security Reinforcement” that was launched by the SDF with the support of the US-led Global Coalition against ISIS cells in Deir ez-Zor on Aug. 27.
For the third day in a row, our SDF forces continue Operation Security Reinforcement in the Deir Ezzor region, targeting ISIS cells, criminal elements, and drug traffickers.
The ISIS militants were arrested on the road linking between the town of al-Uzba and Conoco gas plant, the SDF Media Center reported, adding that the SDF has “successfully completed” the sweep of the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, stretching from the east of Raqqa to al-Ma’amel Roundabout.
The Media Center added that the operation remains ongoing in the eastern and northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
It announced that the SDF arrested two drug traffickers and seized a quantity of narcotics in their possession.
Earlier, the Autonomous Administration in Deir ez-Zor praised the security operation, stressing that it was demanded by the locals and tribe leaders to impose security and stability.
