Jordanian forces shoot down third Syrian drone during August
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordanian authorities announced on Monday that they shot down a drone coming from Syrian territory. It is the third one in August.
Jordanian state-run al-Mamlaka TV channel quoted cited a military source of the General Command of the Jordanian Army as saying, “the border guards, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and the military security agencies, detected an attempt by a drone to illegally cross from Syrian territory to Jordanian territory, and it was shot down inside Jordanian territory.”
The source pointed out that after intensifying the search and inspection operations for the area, the drone was found and transferred to the competent authorities.
In mid-August, the Jordanian Armed Forces said they had shot down a drone loaded with explosives in the Eastern Military Zone, coming from Syrian territory.
In the same month, the Jordanian forces shot down a drone carrying a quantity of “crystal” substance, according to a military statement.
The Jordanian army has intensified its operations on the border with Syria in recent months, especially with regard to monitoring and controlling drug trafficking.
The Jordanian army stressed that they are continuing to deal with any threat on the borders with force.
