SDF launches security operation against ISIS in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Sunday launching a security operation against Islamic State (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The SDF Media Center said, in a statement, that due to ISIS terrorist acts targeting innocent civilians, local leaders, and security personnel in Deir ez-Zor, the SDF supported by the US-led Global Coalition to defeat ISIS have launched “Operation Security Reinforcement” on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, specifically in Deir ez-Zor.

This operation is a completion of prior operations in Hasakah and Raqqa governorates, northeast and northern Syria. “Its primary goals encompass eradicating the ISIS terrorist cells, thwarting their potential attacks, and pursuing criminals responsible for perpetrating injustices against the local population. It also aims at tracking down smugglers who exploit the populace’s livelihoods,” according to the SDF media center.

This operation will last until its specified objectives are met, the statement read.
