HTS executes former leader in Syria’s NW
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) executed, during the past 72 hours, its own military personnel, including a Libyan national, in northwest Syria. They were detained for about a year and a half, on charges of spying for foreign intelligence.
An exclusive source told North Press that one of the executed people is Abu Huthaifa al-Lebi who used to lead Inghimasi Brigade between 2017 and 2020, however he was arrested last year after quitting his job.
The HTS also executed Abu Naser al-Kurdi, one of its former militants, in the central prison, in the west of Idlib governorate, northwest Syria, the source added.
Since June 18, areas under the control of the HTS in northwest Syria, have witnessed the greatest security campaign since July 2017 when the group seized the region.
