SNA member killed, another injured in Syria’s Tel Abyad
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – A member of the al-Jabha al-Shamiya (Levant Front) faction, affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), was killed and another was seriously injured when a landmine exploded while they were attempting to plant it in west of the city of Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa, northern Syria.
Sources told North Press that the explosion occurred this morning while two members of the Engineering Battalion, affiliated with al-Jabha al-Shamiya, were planting a landmine near the village of Salem, west of Tel Abyad. This incident took place in the contact lines with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near Ain Issa town. One of the SNA members lost their life, while the other sustained severe injuries.
The inured member was transported to Tel Abyad Hospital, while other members involved in the operation were detained to investigate the circumstances of the explosion, the source added.
The city of Tel Abyad and its countryside, on the Turkish border, have been under the control of Turkey and SNA factions since 2019 following a military operation dubbed “Peace Spring” that pushed away the Syrian democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting the Turkish national security.
In mid-July, two members of the SNA’s Sultan Murad faction were killed while attempting to plant a landmine in the countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah.
