Unidentified assailants kill SDF fighter in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified assailants killed a fighter of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Monday in the town of al-Azbah in northern Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
An SDF military source from al-Azbah said that unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle targeted a military vehicle of the SDF on the main road of the town using machineguns.
The source told North Press that the attack killed Ma’an al-Jaber, an SDF fighter, 38, as he was in the vehicle.
Lately, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor witnessed increasing assassinations against the SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribe leaders, and civilian people despite intensive security operations conducted by the SDF in the region.
Two days earlier, unknown assailants attacked a checkpoint of Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in the town of Gharanij in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, causing material damage.
