Iran increases military exports
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Iran’s military exports have grown year-on-year, as Iran’s defense exports have grown by 2.5 over last year, the Washington Examiner said on Monday, citing the Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Seyyed Mahdi Farahi.
The US has long warned of a growing military cooperation between Russia and Iran following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Iran has reportedly shipped “hundreds” of drones to Russia and is helping the country build a drone-manufacturing plant near Kazan, the Washington Examiner reported.
Iran’s defense exports extend beyond Russia, however. It has also provided drone technology to the Lebanese Hezbollah, an armed Lebanese militia. Last year, it built a drone factory in Tajikistan.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, also hinted at the possibility of exporting nuclear technology in a speech earlier this month.
Yesterday, a monitor reported that Iran’s oil exports had hit a five-year high.
During state visits this past week, Iran inked a number of trade agreements with South American and Central Asian states as it seeks to evade US sanctions.
