Russia escalates airstrikes in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian warplanes escalated on Tuesday airstrikes on several areas in the countryside of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, amid mutual escalation between the conflicting parties.
An opposition military source told North Press that three Russian warplanes targeted the western outskirts of the cities of Idlib and Maarat Misrin, north of Idlib, with several air raids.
The three planes used high-explosive missiles, resulting in two people being slightly injured and taken to hospitals in Idlib, the source added.
Meanwhile, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) targeted positions of Syrian government forces in the city of Saraqib and the village of Dadikh, east of Idlib, as well as Base 46 and the village of Orm al-Sughra, west of Aleppo.
Reportedly, the government sent massive military reinforcements to several areas in northwestern Syria, especially in the northern and eastern areas of Aleppo.
On Monday, the HTS targeted military convoys of the government forces with heavy artillery shells and rockets as they passed on the M5 international highway near Saraqib in eastern Idlib while heading to Aleppo, without knowing the losses resulting from the targeting.
