Turkish shelling sets fire to farmland in northern Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Caused by Turkish shelling, a fire broke out in a farmland on Sunday near the villages of Umm Harmala and Mazraat Hamdosh, west of the town of Zirgan (Abu Rasin) in northern Hasakah, northeast Syria.

A source from the village of Umm Harmala told North Press that two shells fired by Turkish forces landed at the village, causing a fire to break out in a wheat-planted land.

The source said that the fire consumed about 2 hectares (5 acres) of the land before locals and firefighting teams managed to extinguish it, adding that damage was limited to material losses.

In a separate incident, the village of Dada Abdal, north of Zarkan, was shelled by Turkish artillery this morning, but no human losses were recorded.

Zirgan, which is about 50 km north of the city of Hasakah, is located on the frontline between Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), and Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
